Artist's Comments

My latest attempt at digital painting. This was produced using an old commissioned pencil drawing as the starting point. I then studied a lot of my favourite artists to see if I could tap into their technique, and produced this! There are subtle texture overlays at play here as well (including photos of rust, lichen and minerals!) which I selectively erase/ enhance. That's it really, not perfect, but getting there. I'm happy with some of the detail and texture here and there, but I'm looking to improve with the next one...
(NB, this is a larger version than the one I listed first..)

Truly amazing! How on Earth did you do that? So many details! The resolution is enormous but it was TOTALLY worth it!
Thanks for uploading this big-sized, it's not often that I can enjoy such details. A truly great piece, the composition gives a plus to the heroic overall impression, and the design is among the most originals I have ever seen. I am amazed that the very thin part of the neck doesn't diminuate the impression of dragon force, and it adds to the dynamism.
If I were to make a suggestion, it would be a less organized pattern for the bottom clouds/smoke.

Congratulations on a very well done fantasy image.

You see me now and you think you know me, you barely scratch the surface.
Oh man, this is just badass!...I really like how you left some of it just faded back, you really know when to push and pull those details. I only wish those clouds werent so airbrushy-lookin', ya know? Great piece though, I'm blown away.
GOD DAMN. this is amazing!!
Awesomely well done. That's a really crazy amount of detail you've got going in that dragon's skin. Every scale counts.

Excellent digital work.
