This was my first half decent attempt at digital painting, completed in December 2006. To my surprise it was chosen as a Daily Deviation, my first one, and the response has been fantastic. Speachless really, Cheers muchly!

This was produced using an old commissioned pencil drawing as the starting point. I then studied a lot of my favourite artists to see if I could tap into their technique, and produced this! There are subtle texture overlays at play here as well (including photos of rust, lichen and minerals!) which I selectively erase/ enhance. That's it really, not perfect, but getting there. I'm happy with some of the detail and texture here and there, but I'm looking to improve with the next one...

This was your first digital painting? It is more than half-decent- it is among the best dragon/creature paintings. The spikes, antenna, and bat-like wings really make this guy look fiendish, and the bizarre landscape adds to the mystery of this painting. Great job!!
