Third up in my inking frenzy was Judge Mortis. Surely one of the most bizarre creations in comics, this is an undead zombie killing machine with a horse skull for a head. I mean... what the F***??? Whatever they were smoking, it was an incrediblely weird creation that I loved as a kid, and here's my homage, with some of my patented over the top grisley goo thrown in. Great fun!

The most terrifying of the Dark Judges. I remember the scene in Necropolis where this one comes along and kills a child, very chilling...

I like the way they picked his name (Mortis being Death's pale horse in the Apocalypse) and the comic version is a lesson in undead badassery. Really cool artwork, dude, I'm glad I stumbled onto it!

The character designs for the Dark Judges are amazing - always wondered how Bolland came up with them! I like this a lot - very distinctive style...

Mortisssss. Nice. Always my favourite Dark Judge. Something tells me you've been into 2000ad since ( nearly ) the beginning....?

heh... not quite... I became hooked on 2000AD from prog 440 in autumn 1985, back in the latter years of the 'Golden Age'.. pretty much lived and breathed it!! :)

It is a grossly dystopic future that Judge Dredd dwells in, and, hopefully, it can be prevented !
